Since its inception, I Am Legacy has held a firm mission to bring hope and resilience to young people in South Africa, encouraging them to break personal and societal boundaries. Initially born from Zion Matthew’s vision to inspire South African youth, the organization’s roots trace back to the HistoryMakers International project in 1999—a youth-driven initiative that empowered thousands and paved the way for ongoing transformational programs.
Each year, we reach more youth through large events and intimate workshops, consistently driving change and lighting the spark of potential in every participant.
Our foundation’s story is intertwined with South Africa’s journey, and our dedication lies in creating a ripple effect of change. With founder Zion Matthew at the helm, a visionary leader and speaker, we continue to inspire thousands through annual Youth Day events, conferences, and entrepreneurship gatherings. These events are crafted to help young people embrace their own potential, breaking the cycle of limitations and creating pathways to success for themselves and future generations.
At I Am Legacy, our mission is straightforward yet powerful: to foster hope, create equal opportunities, and encourage holistic well-being for South Africa’s next generation. In 2025, I Am Legacy aims to empower and train 12,000 young people, ages 13 to 18, across Cape Town. This initiative is designed to equip the next generation with the life skills, confidence, and leadership qualities

I AM LEGACY is a motivational, personal effectiveness and leadership seminar. More than 10 “life skill” topics are covered in the course. Participants interact with other participants and facilitators through a series of games and exercises to “experience” what it truly matters to them. They are inspired and never bored
